1 John 4:1 “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world”.
There are many in the world today that are saying right is wrong and wrong is right. Not only that but they are many in the world today that have a FORM of godliness but DENIES the power thereof (the power that belongs to God). There is division among us but we know those tares were sown by the evil one (the devil) who came only to steal, kill and destroy. We know that this world is passing away like God said it would but HIS words will never pass away (Matthew 24:35 “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away“). We know that God’s word will not return to him void (Isaiah 55:11 “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it“).
How does one try the spirits? By reading the word of God. By knowing the word of God. By not just being hearers of the word of God but doers of the word of God (James 1:22 “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves“). By having a relationship with Christ! There are many voices and spirits in this world that can say “right things” to itchy ears but what is really in their hearts? They can have a form of what is “right” to many but is what they are saying and doing in their life aligning with the word of God? Can you see that in their life, by what they speak and HOW they speak it. None is perfect and we will never reach perfection HERE in this world but we can always try to reach it. For God said to be holy as he is holy (1 Peter 1:16 “Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy”).
If the world says it is fine to commit sexual immorality, lust and greed. Yet, those who are OF the world profess to be Christian and still do these things. What we should do is take a step back and ask ourselves, what did God say about these things? What does God say about sexual immorality, lust or greed? 1 Corinthians 6:18 “Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body”; Ephesians 5:3 “But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;”; Collosians 3:5 “Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:”. When the world says it is okay to practice homosexuality among other sins, what does the word of God say about practicing such things? 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God”.
The world says it is human nature to do and think these things, yes, but it is our flesh that do them. It is our sinful nature to do or think these things. But if we are to claim ourselves to be children of God and real orthodox Christians, and the word of God is telling us to flee and escape these sins that go against God. Then that is EXACTLY what God meant for us to do when he called out us OUT of the world to Passover from death to life. Yes, Jesus is that bridge that anyone can Passover from death to life, from hell to heaven, misery to joy, hate to peace, indifference to LOVE; once you repent of your sins and accept him into your life and make him your Lord and savior!
Let us not forget what the word says when we are up against those voices that tell us THESE things are okay. When we know in our hearts and in our spirit that they are not. So, if and when you find yourself in that spot. Where you will have to profess and confess what and why you believe in what you do and people won’t like it because they don’t understand. Then remember what the word of God says about those who seek to please and obey God and seek the Kingdom of God first in their lives.
Matthew 5:11-12 “Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you”.
Matthew 6:33 “But seek you first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you”.
Romans 8:31 “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?”
