Give thanks always to the Lord! ( =

Has there ever been a time where people you knew believed in the Lord Jesus but never really gave their hearts to him fully. Have you ever met those people or even have friends of those that you know that come to the Lord, usually when they “need” something, they pray to God but not in the times when they are filled and happy and there is not much to worry about? They take and receive from the Lord when they need to but they don’t thank him or even recognize it was him that gave to them but after they just sort of left God and the stopped being holy like once they got what they “needed”, they left that holiness; they sort of left that annointment they had and turned back to their “ways”. Well, they are many who have found themselves in that position, it seems that some need to suffer in order to give thanks to God or to be close to God, they need to go through drama in their lives because if they don’t and everything is all dandy, they forget how merciful God has been to them. That some might even forget his power.

God has the power to show you who is God but usually ( what I noticed) it is the times where we find ourselves in great trivial, hardship and pain when we turn to God. Those that blame God for the bad that happens in the world and they blame God for the bad that has happened to them most of the time are not Christians (at least from my experience, many who think this way are non-believers but I am sure some believers can think this way too if they believe in the lies of the evil one) and when good turns to bad, they turn to God because they finally realize in their weaknesses they are nothing without God. People don’t really understand the word of God when they are in the world because they don’t open up their heart to the word ( until they have no choice). Though they are many Christians, believers of Jesus Christ that still live in a worldly place, but come to God when they need him and give him their full attention. I will be frank, I have had many moments in my life that were luke warm.

I would believe in the Lord Jesus but not think of him as much as I should have or read his word but instead made my focus on something else, school, talents, imaginations, whatever they could be or was. Though when something struck me, mentally, emotionally, or even spiritually, I would go straight to God. Though when that would go away and God would take it away. I would go back to that behavior that I made idol and focus on that particular than put my focus on God. Now there is nothing wrong with coming to the Lord when you are broken and what need comforting but I think the Lord wants us to come to him when we are whole as well and give thanks to him when he blesses us. Not just the blessings of food, or drink, or with material items but to thank him for another day, for health, for mental health, for your kids, for your parents, for your family, and for your friends. Such things that can last for a life time and even for eternity is what we should be eternally grateful for and give thanks to God all the time because he deserves many thanks indeed.

We shouldn’t find ourselves to act like the parable of the Prodigal son, take from God ( when we ask of him) because we are his sons and daughters but then waste it by sinning and doing the things that he does not want us to do. He gives us life but we live it like we are in the world that is not Christ life. He gives us health but we gluttonize and make food an idol that is not Christ like. He gives us wealth and yet we don’t give back to what he has given us; we don’t sow back into God but we just take, etc. We have all these blessings but yet we can be wasteful with them and we don’t use them as the way God would want us to. We take, take, and take but we don’t give thanks, we don’t give them over to the Lord or ask him what we wants us to do with what he gave us. However, God is full of mercy, he is such a loving God, and he will take back whom ever that will confess their sins to him because that is what he wants us to do. He wants us to realize that it is not just the things that our focus should be on but on him, the creator and giver of the “things” that he has given to us. But not only those “things” but his salvation. Every single day we should be thankful for his salvation and his grace.

We have to be grateful, and thankful for all because we can do nothing without God, nothing whatsoever. And whatever we have, he has given to us and the least we can do is serve him, be thankful and to love him because he first loved us. The only thing we can possibly give to God because he is everything, is ourselves. That is what he wants, that is what happened in the parable of the Prodigal son, he took what was for him as the son of his father that he had for him and the son wasted it. Though, through his misery he woke up and started to realize that it was his father that he disowned and it was his father that he left because he wanted to do what he wanted to do and because of it is he suffered. Notice it was when he suffered, he realized who he was without his father’s guidance and what he was capable of, wastefulness.

His father, having mercy and having loved his son, even when he left him and even when his son sinned against him. He took him back because his son finally realized that it was his father’s love that he needed, not the wasteful stuff, not the money, not the sexual impurity, not the food but the love of his father, the mercy of his father. GOD is so merciful, we back-slide, we forget, we sin, we turn our backs from God but sometimes bad things have to happen, in order for us to realize that God is merciful and God is love and God does love US. It takes bad things sometimes in order for us to GET IT. Though, it doesn’t have to be like that, we don’t have to back-slide, it is a choice. Our feet can be planted firmly in God and in the word of God and we do not have partake in any worldly pleasures to be “happy”. All we need is him, his love, his mercy and his peace. If we realize who we are without him through the good times and the bad times, we won’t ever had to worry about anything because we know that God is everything. And we should be not only giving God praise and glory through the bad times when we think “maybe if I sing, worship and pray to God, God would do this for me…etc” but also in the good times when we know in our hearts that it was God who gave us these blessings. We have to be thankful through the bad and through the good.

It will test our faith indeed but this is life and we are surrounded by people who do what they want to do but we can’t fall into temptation. We have to recognize NOW what is of God and what is not of God. We must decrease so he can increase. We cannot give glory to ourselves when all the glory belongs to God. Every piece of grain, everything leaf, every particle, everything is indeed in his control. When we know this, we won’t be selfish and say “It was me,” no. We would say ” It was God” or we won’t turn our backs from God when they are bad times but turn ourselves to him but not leave his values, his commandments and our responsibilities when things are looking good but stay where are feet should be planted when things are looking up and when they are looking down.

Matthew 5:7 “Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.” (Have you been merciful?)

Psalm 40:2 “He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. ( The rock is Christ Jesus)

1 Thessalonians 5:18 “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” (key words: every thing)

1 Corinthians 10:31 “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”

My prayer is this: Lord heavenly father, I pray that you give us a heart of thanks. That we won’t just worship you just in the bad times or just in the good times. But we will give thanks to you all the time, that we praise you and follow you all the time. That whatever we do, we do it all to the glory of you heavenly God. Give us the strength that we need to endure through what ever it is to come and give us the faith that will never falter but strengthens us in times of trouble. We praise your name forever and ever, in Jesus name, Amen!

I hope this blesses you in some way, thank you for listening!

God loves you and God bless you!

Love,

Bonnibel
