Reading: Matthew 5-7

I was thinking, what a wonderful teacher we have in Jesus! Just like his disciples, a lot of us grew up in church but still believe in teachings wrongly interpreted from the Bible. That was why teaching was an important part of Jesus’ mission—to rebuff man-made rules (sadly, devised by religious leaders) which were in direct contrast to the word of God.

Don’t we love it when Jesus starts with “You have heard that it was said….” and then suddenly negates it with “But I tell you….”! Suddenly, there’s clarity! Suddenly there’s release from a very heavy burden. Remember what Jesus said in Matthew 11:28-30? “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
