The Matters of Love and the Heart

Today I became aware that there are many people that have an idea about what love should look like. It should be about caring, sharing, giving and loyalty, which is right! However, the pictures (the image) of what these qualities are in this world is a bit twisted. For instance, where does love come from? Well, being believers on this blog, we know that love comes from God. He created all things, he made all things, he knows all things and he is everything that is good and holy. Isaiah 45:12 “I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded.” Colossians 1:16  “For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:” Amen! And if love comes from God, then he has commandments about how we should treat others with it and how as human beings have a form of love but being in our flesh (in sin) most of the time we don’t know how to love or we don’t know what it is or how to treat people with God’s love. You ask, what do you mean? Well, I will give you an example on how we should LOVE God our creator. Deuteronomy 6:5 “And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.” Matthew 22:37-38  “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment.”  Many do not have this idea of loving God, even some Christians don’t love God like this because sometimes we let the things of this world consume our hearts and taint it. You ask, what do you mean by taint or don’t know how to love God? Well, Jesus said if you LOVE me, you keep my commandments, the 10 commandments John 14:15  “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” But this one commandment that Jesus Lord said in Matthew makes up half of the FIRST 5 commandments.

  1. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
  2. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
  3. Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
  4. Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
  5. Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

Also, Jesus said in Matthew 22:39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. which makes up the last 5 commandments.

  1. Thou shalt not kill.
  2. Thou shalt not commit adultery.
  3. Thou shalt not steal.
  4. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
  5. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.

These two commandments that God has given us makes up all of the commandments.

Do we do these everyday? No, we do not, actually most of the world and even some believers break these commandments. Now, we aren’t perfect creatures and the Lord knows that but God wouldn’t ask us to obey him and abide in his word if we weren’t capable of doing so. So, why aren’t many people understanding or obeying? Well because there is another creature in the world; a darkness that has a hold on this world and it taints and twists and LIES to the masses about what is holy and what is righteous and what is LOVE. Love is not a fairytale, love is not a lie that you tell someone just so you won’t get their feelings hurt. You love someone, you tell them the truth in a respectful manner. It is not hateful when telling someone the truth about themselves but because you care for their souls, their life and their well beings. You tell them what they need to know to change and/or to approve and if they are willing, then they will listen. For instance, if one came up to me, asking me if I believe living in fornication was a Godly thing to do, I would say no, it is not. Why? Because it says so in the bible. 1 Corinthians 6:18 ” Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.” No, man did not write the bible because if he did, we (all of us) would be capable of doing what it says to the T if we wanted to and we would know it without even reading it or interpreting it because its inherently in us but it is not. Man did not create love because if man did, we would know how to love and many of us do not.

You ask, how do I love others righteously? Well, its simple, you love them as God loves you. We can’t love like God loves because his love has no limits like ours have because sometimes we love selfishly. One has to look a certain way or act a certain way, be a certain frame, color, live in a certain area or have a certain prestige. Our love can only go so far. I will give you another example of what love should be in relationships, in friendships, and in families.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 “Charity suffereth long, [and] is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth: but whether [there be] prophecies, they shall fail; whether [there be] tongues, they shall cease; whether [there be] knowledge, it shall vanish away.” Amen! This is how we should love. Our love should hold no boundaries, it should be as Christ’s love, God, who loved the world that he GAVE his only begotten SON to the world, so the world would not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16. Jesus did not stop and think, I shouldn’t do this because of thief’s, because of killers, because of rapists or because of people’s adultery. He still sacrificed himself for US when the world hated him, he loved the world. When the world killed him, he gave it the hope of salvation. That is what God has done. That is pure love. Love is not cheating, love is not fornication, treating other at ill, name calling, using or abusing. This is not love. Love is not acts of selfishness or of hatred. This is not love and yet this is what the world live by, all these things WITHOUT God. Why suffer such things when you have Jesus that can give you all that you need. Believe in his promises, believe that he gave his life for you and believe that he rose on the THIRD day for YOU. He loves you without limits, without boundaries. ALL he asks us is for us to love him the same way and to love other as he loves us. To trust in him. It is not easy and sometimes we are not willing and we stumble but if we open our HEARTS. If he train our hearts to hear him and to soften our hearts at his words then maybe we would be able to see and understand that this is the love that much of the world is missing. Their missing it in their marriages, their missing it in their families and their missing it in themselves. The Love of GOD.

How can you leave the world’s love? By accepting God’s love for you. Persue him, know him, and let him love you. Proverbs 4:23 ” Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life ” It is easy for life to taint our hearts when it comes to many things but love is number 1 when it comes to tainting what it stands for. Ephesians 4:18 ” Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:” How can one change one’s heart, by accepting Jesus as their Lord and Savior, asking God for forgiveness of their sins and to ask him into their life. Their is no wrong from the Lord by believing in him. There are only burdens from the world because those who try to do good are looked down on or hated on or being persecuted because they are trying to do good and to live by God’s standards, not the world’s and it knows that and is against those who believe in him. Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” Trust in GOD. He is mercy, he is goodness, he is holy, he is peace but above all he is LOVE. Once you accept him and understand, you would want others to know it too and how more wonderful the world would be with that pure love in it? God bless!

With love,

  1. Interesting that you should post about Love, this is what God is challenging me on and speaking to me about in these days also. I have found 1 John very enlightening on the issue of God’s love and our command and ability to love as He does… Thanks for the post! 🙂

    1. God has spoken to me about Love as well; to love others more and to love others as he loves us. Its not easy but with Christ all things are possible but by ourselves, not so much, haha!
Thank you for reading! God bless you ( =
